Nathan Cheek

Tipton, IN (October 29, 2020) - Total Seed Production, Inc. (TSP) recently promoted Nathan Cheek from Farm Supervisor to Shop Manager.

This was a natural transition for Cheek since he is so knowledgeable about farming and the machinery used in TSP operations.

“Nathan has been invaluable in our farming operations and were ecstatic for him to step into his new role,” states Aaron Conaway, TSP president.

His role will consist of training shop staff of the ins and outs of the equipment and making sure his crew keeps things moving along, literally.

“I’m excited and nervous at the same time with managing a fleet of machinery this size but I’m up for the challenge," Cheek says. "One of my main goals is to push forward with advancing and building upon our shop and get better equipped for doing more maintenance in-house.”

Cheek started at the TSP organization in 2017, moving from his hometown of Farmer City, IL to Tipton County for his previous role.

He is no stranger to working on machinery with his background of schooling at Parkland College in Champaign, IL, focusing on gas and diesel engines. His all-around knowledge of farming and machinery can be attributed to being born and raised on his family’s fourth generation farm where they grew corn and soybeans.

“I got into working with seed corn in 1995, which is definitely my favorite because of the challenges that come with it,” says Cheek. “I like the timing and precision it takes to produce the crop.”

Truly a farming family, he lives with his wife, Emily, two sons, Adam and Jarod, daughter, Jeana, in Tipton County, IN and their oldest son, Nathan, still lives in Illinois. Three of his four children have followed his footsteps into working in the ag industry. In his spare time, Cheek enjoys off-roading in his souped-up Jeep and spending time with his family.
