Investment showcases commitment to Canadian corn and soybean growers
Syngenta Seeds leadership teams for Canada and North America officially open the Arva R&D Innovation Centre on June 25, 2024.
Guelph, ON (June 26, 2024) - Syngenta Seeds North America leaders recently welcomed representatives from government, grower organizations, and the seed industry to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Arva Research & Development (R&D) Innovation Centre. The newly renovated office and lab reinforces the commitment by Syngenta to Canadian agriculture.
“At Syngenta Seeds, everything we do is fueled by grower needs and future opportunities. That’s the driver behind every investment we make and every product we introduce,” says Dan Wright, Head, Enogen and Syngenta Seeds Canada. “Investment in this facility will enable greater collaboration across the seed value chain, better product placement, more reliable performance, and ultimately result in higher yields for Canadian growers.”
The Arva R&D Innovation Centre is located on a 100-acre site just north of London, Ontario. Owned by Syngenta legacy companies since 1989, it includes 30,000 square feet of office space and outbuildings where seed breeding, seed processing, and field research trials are conducted with a focus on the Canadian grower. Innovative traits and genetics trialed at the site include NK® corn and soybeans, Enogen™ corn hybrids, and Silverline™ soybeans.
Renovations to the 9,500-square-foot office and lab, totalling more than $2 million, mark the first significant update to the site in 30 years. More than 70 Syngenta employees who serve customers across Canada call this location home.
The Arva R&D Innovation Centre is part of a global innovation powerhouse that includes more than 150 Syngenta R&D and production sites worldwide and a $1.4 billion (USD) investment annually. During the event, leaders highlighted the strength of the Syngenta R&D Engine, which is rooted in orchestrating every process for speed, precision, and power.
